1) Ezine or Newsletter advertising – Traffic is especially targeted if you can arrange for a personal recommendation within the newsletter/ezine by the owner.
2) Banner Advertising – Depending on the placement, banner ads are fantastic for branding purposes.
3) Paid Reviews on Blogs – It’s vital to pick quality bloggers with a decent amount of integrity, trust, reach and authority.
4) Online discussion groups and chat groups – As with e-mail, you can gain frequent exposure to yourself and your business by participating in online discussion groups and chat groups.
5) Text Link Advertising – Useful because it can provide you with some SEO benefits. I would pick a high traffic site over one with a high PageRank anytime.
6) TE (Traffic Exchange) websites like Dragon Surf, Traffic Witch, Traffic Splash, HitsBoosterPro

I agree with Beast also.
But as far as completely free but quick traffic to your site, I would also recommend leveraging the power of social media and Web 2.0, (such as blogging and social bookmarking sites / forums, squidoo, youtube, facebook etc) it brings in lots of highly targeted traffic and really quick and completely free.

My best answer for that is when you do the FREE stuff it is very time consuming and like the ancient saying says you get what you pay for and let me be the first to tell you it’s not FREE it’s ether gonna cost you a small money or a lot of time what I’ve been using that works very well is offline methods the competition is a lot less competitive and you can glide under the radar nobody can steel your ads or anything that you market.
I really reckon the general public just don’t take the internet as serious as it use to to many get rich quick schemes and con artist hope this helps.

Getting traffic is a combination of a lot of things. The key to success is to make fantastic content that visitors want to use, search engines will like and other websites will naturally link to. Of course, it’s simpler said than done.
You can use pay per click advertising in the search engines to reach audiences looking for your products. You can use Google Adwords http://www.google.com/adwords or Yahoo http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com
Here are some shoestring marketing thoughts that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:
1. Make the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement – if visitors like your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.
2. Make it simple for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very vital — and simple to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more – that’s additional traffic that you get for FREE!

3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a huge source of traffic. The key is to make the best content in your niche. If you have excellent content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.

4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.
